Designing my product
Design review
Before commencing production on your order, our design team will apply their years of experience to reviewing your design and ensuring it translates well from the image on your screen to the finished product.
To ensure your design is as good as it can be, we recommend reviewing our guide on layout and placement and uploading logos/graphics.
What will be checked?
Our design team will carry out a comprehensive review of your design including but not limited to:
Placement, alignment and size of design elements
When viewing the placement and alignment of your design elements, our designer will consider how it will look across our entire size range, ensuring it will look balanced on all sizes from a 3XS to a 5XL.
We may recommend centering your designs within a decoration space.
The scale of your logo may need to be adjusted to allow for details to be embroidered.
The size of the text may need to be adjusted in your uploaded graphic/logo to adhere to our minimum height requirements for embroidery.
Placement of custom names or numbers
The placement of custom name or numbers may require adjusting to allow for our minimum clearance from other designs. View more on placement of custom names and numbers.
Outlines
Outlines around text or designs may need to be removed or made thicker to ensure we can achieve a crisp finish in embroidery or sublimation. See our guide on uploading logos/graphics for more details.
Application types
As the Design Lab uses default settings for application type during the design review, we will check to ensure these are the most appropriate choice for your custom design.
For larger designs, especially those with areas of solid fill, we will ensure the application is either a felt and embroidery badge or a nylon and embroidery badge. This ensures the garment remains flexible and comfortable when worn.
In order to achieve a premium finish, smaller, more intricate designs, such as logos, are full embroidery where possible. For examples, see our guide on application types.
In certain situations such as when your design has a lot of detail, your design may be best produced using a sublimated badge or Heat Transfer Printing. If this is the case, we will be in touch to discuss options with you.
Colors
With our extended color range, it is possible to inadvertently select a different shade of color in different places across the design. For example, there may be a slightly different shade of green on your back design compared to the front. In this case, we will check if it was intended.
Quality of uploaded images
In order to produce your garments, we require your uploaded images to be high resolution. If the image you have uploaded is not high enough resolution for production, we will be in contact. See uploading logos/graphics guide for more information.
Copyright and acceptable use
If we believe your design violates our terms and conditions, including but not limited to use of copyright/licensed graphics we will be unable to manufacture your order and will be in contact to arrange a refund.
If we have reason to believe you do not have authority to use a logo/graphic then you may be requested to provide a copy of your signed off Permission Request documentation. For more information see FAQ: How do I get authority to use a logo/graphic?
Previous orders
If you belong to a managed account, we will also check previous orders for consistency. This includes the logo size and placement, application types, and colors.
Spelling
We will reach out to you if we notice any text that appears to be an error or spelling mistake. Ultimately though, spelling is the responsibility of the order manager and should be checked thoroughly on your design prior to starting the order.
What happens if we need to make a change to your design?
If we need to make a change to your design, we will contact you via phone or email.
Please ensure you check your emails and respond as quickly as possible. Delays during the design review can result in your delivery being delayed.
When will my design be reviewed?
For "Buy now" orders, the design review will be completed once you submit your order.
For "Buy with a group" orders, the design review will be completed once your order is set up so as to flag any key concerns before your group starts to order. Additionally, we will check again when your order is submitted, in case of changes.
